Originally from China, Sun Dawei dedicated his talent to houses such as John Galliano and Balenciaga after receiving a degree from the prestigious École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. His time working for these renowned brands led him to co-found the brand Belle Ninon Paris, followed by working as the Artistic Director for Cacharel. He was one of the seven designers invited in China for the first Franco-Chinese Fashion Meetings.
The eponymous label was launched in 2016 in Paris, and produces four seasons a year. His pieces have been worn by numerous models and social influencers, including FeiFei Sun, Ave Camilla, Alice Barbier, Ines Joseph, and Silvia Garcia Bartabac. The brand is carried globally, but is especially popular within the Asian market. Dawei's name has been featured in several fashion magazines, such as Grazia, Now Fashion, Vogue, Juste, Harpers Bazaar, WWD, Glamour Magazine, and Elle.
These colourful pieces are made in China, however, the fabrics are sourced globally. Dawei is known for its clean cuts, clever deconstruction, mixture of fabrics and plays of colours. They present a fresh and dynamic vibe, and are always comfortable and practical, yet elegant and playful. Introducing different shades of pink, emerald green, and stripes in his pieces, the Spring/Summer collection reveals a breezy and modern look.
