The count down is on and Christmas is only days away. We can’t think of anything better than to fill our days with Vancouver’s holiday best! Here are our picks of the greatest Christmas To Do’s around Vancouver.
With a winter this cold, it’s time to heat from within. Our fav is the Wild Saje at Koko Monk. Made with vegan chocolate, almond milk, and turkish coffee, it has just the right amount of coco-y goodness without being too sweet. Enjoy a cup in their chocolateria, or grab a hot chocolate on your way to go on your way to..
A perfect time to bust out the situational dressing. Take your toque + matching scarf as you’re going to feel the elevation change on this one. They’ve gone above and beyond this year with their 153 foot live Christmas tree, the tallest in the world! Stroll through the rainforest, walk the suspension bridge, and maybe sneak a kiss under the twinkling lights.
Disclaimer: Do not attempt while hungry
Spend 15 min up to an entire evening wandering through the incredible Gingerbread creations at the Hyatt. We didn’t even know you could do so many things with candy! See if you can spot the imaginative gingerbread mountain. The attention to detail is phenomenal. And while you're there, why not enjoy a holiday themed cocktail or two in their lounge, the Grain Tasting Bar.
There’s an easy way and a right way to make your own Gingerbread house. We won’t lie, we’re pretty big fans of the kits – like the new Starbucks Gingerbread house kit. But to really make a Gingerbread house you can call your own, gather up a group of your besties and organize a class at the Dirty Apron. All you’re required to do is show up in your Betty Crocker best (a holiday apron will make for a pretty nice touch) and learn the ins and outs from the pros. Or try out a recipe from scratch, like this one from Life, Love, and Sugar.
If you haven’t seen this since you were a kid, its time to rekindle your childlike curiosity. A perfect excuse to get dressed in your holiday best + revel in a truly magical performance. We’re lucky to have talent like this in Vancouver. And watch for the mini me ballerinas – they make for the cutest rats.
Even if you don’t have an Ugly Christmas sweater party to attend, no need to have an excuse to get your craft on. It’s too easy to hit up your local emporium + buy one.. Make for one better and create the ugliest sweater yourself! Head to Michaels or Dressew for your tools, and Value Village for something to use as a base – and let the artist out from within. If you want to give your sweater the ultimate debut, head to the Commordore Ballroom for their annual Ugly Christmas Sweater party.
No reason you can’t be in the holiday spirit but also try and burn off some of those Christmas beverages and sweets. Our picks include snowshoeing and skating on Grouse Mountain. There’s nothing but perfect conditions this year!
You’ll have to be sure to catch this one today, or put it at the top of your list for next year. For the ultimate in Christmas experiences, head to Squamish to board the Polar Express. Who doesn’t like a train ride, complete with hot chocolate, cookies, and Christmas carols? Not to mention the destination. Drum roll please…..the North Pole of course! We promise, this one isn’t just for kids.
Last but certainly not least. Stop in and visit us to see our Pacman Christmas come to life! Spend some time playing jumbo Pacman on our giant video wall. Can you beat the high score!?
