A cascading colour of ribbons frame three-equally colourful and bold outfits. A statement of it's own, the multicolour striped dress by Attico is accessorized with a touch of Apple & Figs necklace. The Dawei Pink bustier paired with the Attico Cavalier jeans, and Xander Zhou red button-up paired with the Blue Marble reflective shorts, for example, both capture the fun, bold, and eye catching style one would expect to see at Vancouver’s annual Pride Parade. Here at Secret Location, we celebrate the bold, the unique, and colourful all year round. However, there is more to Pride than just eccentric outfits and rainbows.

Pride parades, now held all around the world, started after the Stonewall Riots; an uprising In 1969 where LGBTQ+ Patrons of New York City were fed up with continuous police violence targeting the LGBTQ+ community. Lead by black and latinx trans women, this riot inspired similar protests and marches worldwide, many of which became what we now know as pride parades.

When celebrating pride, be sure to remember its roots & positive message as they have become increasingly corporate, but in their very essence is the spirit of resistance, revolution, and celebration of equality, gender-fluidity, and self-love.
