Art has a long narrative deeply intertwined with societal culture and is often considered what separates us as human. The ability to creatively think, visualize, and execute these concepts has also dramatically changed with the development of civilization. A key factor that has opened the doors to various mediums unattainable by earlier artists is technology. In today's day & age, we are so fortunate to have a plethora of mediums available to us such as, paintings, sculptures, photography, design, and architecture.
Instagram has unquestionably become a beacon for contemporary artists to showcase & share their work with the world. We brought together our list of various Canadian artists to follow on Instagram who have mastered their technique. Tristesse Seeliger is a Vancouver-based mixed media artist using paint and collage as her method of creation. Her artwork can be defined as fusing cartography (the art of drawing maps) combined with geometry to produce a new space that brings the eyes in an analytic, yet abstract way. Seeliger incorporates pieces of maps into artistic geometric shapes, letting the maps palette & texture become the decider.

Vancouver-based multi disciplinary artist Carl Ostberg's unique technique balances the beauty in flower arranging, styling, and photography. His work piques a sense of delicacy and surrealism with colour-blocking, soft editing, and natural objects & settings. Carl has done numerous forms of work which include still, fashion, editorial, and installation that can be viewed on his page. The term 'perfect-imperfection' never rang truer in his art.

Editorial photographer Andrea Fernandez calls the hot summers of Buenos Aires her motherland, developed her education in London, and now lives in beautiful B.C, Vancouver. David Stenbeck is a Swedish artist who defines himself as a visionary artist and conceptualist through digital 3D mediums. His signature art being details of neon-pink (hence the Instagram name @dovneon). Stenbeck's eye for combining alluring graphics with pop & colourful personalities creates a sense of modern surrealism. A reoccurring theme on his Instagram is of vibrant clouds with the David Stenbeck touch.
