Art has a long narrative deeply intertwined with societal culture and is often considered what separates us as human. The ability to creatively think, visualize, and execute these concepts has also dramatically changed with the development of civilization. A key factor that has opened the doors to various mediums unattainable by earlier artists is technology. In today's day & age, we are so fortunate to have a plethora of mediums available to us such as, paintings, sculptures, photography, design, and architecture.
Instagram has unquestionably become a beacon for contemporary artists to showcase & share their work with the world. We brought together our list of various Canadian artists to follow on Instagram who have mastered their technique. Experts that might have you stop scrolling for a mere second to become inspired and be in the moment.
Tristesse Seeliger is a Vancouver-based mixed media artist using paint and collage as her method of creation. Her artwork can be defined as fusing cartography (the art of drawing maps) combined with geometry to produce a new space that brings the eyes in an analytic, yet abstract way. Seeliger incorporates pieces of maps into artistic geometric shapes, letting the maps palette & texture become the decider.
