American painter Roy Lichtenstein (1923 - 1997) pioneered a new approach to Pop Art with his groundbreaking use of industrial production techniques and trivial, everyday imagery such as cartoon, comic strips, and advertising. He joined other artist of the field such as Andy Warhol and James Rosenquist to reflect & satirize American mass media and consumer culture. His style includes expanding and pixelating images with his "dot" technique, which Lichtenstein has been synonymous for.
