It is widely known that flying can require a lot of additional work, from arranging flights that suit your need, to organizing your luggage in advanced (usually unlikely). However, proper packing is a key part in travelling. We understand it's difficult to shy from the rich experiences travel brings, so we share our essential tips on how to pack your carry-on for the weekend. Ensuring that you as globetrotters of the world, find seamless future travels.

Ensure your carry-on luggage is approved by the airlines

With various luggage sizes and styles along with the planes compartment model, it's best to double-check if your carry-on is approved. Most airlines companies have a baggage guideline, policy, and fees outlined within their website.

Check the weather prior to packing

This is an excellent way to brainstorm and list out all of the clothing & accessories you'd need to bring. If you're attending a wedding one day and hiking a trial the next, our suggestion is taking the essentials first, then styling accordingly.

Layout all items you need prior to putting them in your luggage

Laying out all the items you need before packing gives you a birds eye view from above that lets you edit accordingly and insures you don't forget anything. Try to avoid the 'just in-case' items as they can easily take up space.

Pack the heaviest items at the base and wheels

Packing the heaviest items near the bottom not only minimizes shifting inside your luggage, but is also good practice to separate and prevent possible damage with other delicate items in your carry-on.

Place shoes in bags to prevent getting dirt all over your belongings

Use protective bags that are durable such as nylon with drawstring closure. This allows you to store sneakers and heels without it being torn during your travels.

Pack toiletries in travel sizes and within a waterproof bag to avoid spills

Travel sized toiletries is anything that is in a liquid or gel form. Keep these similar items in a waterproof bag separate from other products.

Eliminate all boxes & cases where possible but ensure items are protected

An elegant solution for protection & organization is using a cushion-lined pouch with separate compartments. Store multiple pieces together in order to prevent searching endlessly too.

Use undergarments & socks to fill shoes and bags

Personally a good practice to embrace because, in doing so helps save extra space and supports the shape of your bags & shoes on your travels. This also solves the topic of storing your undergarments & socks.

Try not to roll easy-wrinkle items

Rolling your clothes compacts the item but will consequently become wrinkled. Folding however, keeps your items neat and minimizes wrinkles. This ultimately saves time from steaming/ironing your clothes.

Wear any jacket or hat you'd like to bring on your holiday

Wearing your favourite jacket or special hat on the plane leaves more room inside your carry-on. Choose easy and comfortable items as travel-protocols often requests to remove them during their checkpoint.
