The new artistic director of the House of Thierry Mugler, David Koma cuts body-contouring silhouettes with his heavily embellished statement dresses. Inspired by the feminine form, Koma creates strong architectural shapes that evoke empowerment in the wearer, and it is this design element that has catapulted the young London-based designer onto the international stage.
Born in the country of Georgia, Koma studied in St. Petersburg, and then at Central Saint Martins, showing his first collection at the age of 15. His pieces have been worn by such a-list celebrities as Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Rihanna.
